If you want to visit an inmate at the Houston County Jail, there are a few things you should know. First, you must fill out a visitor application form. You can do this online or through the mail. Having a visitation list helps ensure that all visitors are screened and approved. Visitors are limited to eight people per day, so you may want to contact the office to check if your name is already on the list.

Once you have an approved visitor list, you can schedule a video visit. Inmates are permitted to have two video visits a week. Each visit is for 45 minutes. Video visits can be scheduled through the video kiosks inside the facility. A valid photo ID is required.

To visit an inmate, you can use the kiosks at the Houston County Jail or you can visit them via video. However, you must call in to set up your video visit at least a day in advance. If you don't, you will not be allowed to see the inmate.

If you would like to send money to an inmate, you can visit the kiosk in the lobby. Money can be deposited through a credit or debit card or through the mail. Using mail is a more time-consuming method, but it is also possible. You can deposit your funds through the USPS or by sending a money order made out to the inmate.

All incoming inmate mail must be on one single sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 card stock. To make sure it reaches the inmate, you must tape it on both sides. Upon receipt, all mail will be inspected to prevent contraband. If your mail does not pass inspection, it will not be mailed.

Visitors cannot bring cell phones into the jail. Additionally, you can only bring approved items into the jail. Items that are not allowed include crayons, packages, and packages.

While visiting an inmate, you must follow the dress code that is set by the jail. The dressing guidelines are posted at the facility. Any visitor who does not comply with the dress code will not be allowed to visit. When a visitor is found in violation of the dress code, he or she will be denied access to the jail.

The jail's website offers a search tool to find the inmate you wish to visit. You can view detailed information about the inmate including the charge, the booking date, and other information.

To avoid waiting in long lines, the Houston County Jail has implemented the Visitor(TM) video visitation system. These visits allow you to see the inmate at a convenient time, so you don't have to worry about driving.
