One way is by signing a veteran quarterback to give the team a chance to use their first-round pick on a player at another position. In this scenario, the Texans would have an instant win. However, it also means they may have to resign a quarterback who is under contract.

One player that the Texans could take in the first round is Vince Young. He is a very solid passer with a strong arm and good mobility. He has a high upside. However, he is also not very big.

Another option is Jimmy Garoppolo. If the Texans want to go all in on a franchise player, they can sign him to a one-year deal. While he is not a star, he has plenty of NFL experience and would be a great fit in Ryan Day's offense.

While the Texans would have a lot of assets in the draft, the quarterback situation is the only spot where it's still a bit up in the air. The Texans have a minus-6 turnover margin, and that is simply a terrible thing for an offense to have. With wide receivers Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins, the Texans cannot rely on their offense to rely on low yardage and poor completion rates.

After a lackluster performance against the Washington Commanders, the Texans opted to bench him. Instead, they will start Kyle Allen. Allen has a career passer rating of 84.9. During his time in college, he set the passing record at Texas AA&M.

However, he hasn't been able to help the Texans out of their funk. In the last five games, he's thrown for five touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also hasn't helped the Texans close out a game late.

Although the Texans have a talented young squad, they have yet to produce an immediate winner. Hopefully, a new starting quarterback is added in the offseason.
