When it comes to fishing, Jimmy Houston is an American legend. He is a member of the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and the Professional Bass Fishing Hall of Fame. As a pro angler, he has won several titles and countless prize money. Houston grew up in Moore, Oklahoma. His father, who was a game warden, helped him with fishing. After watching older anglers compete in tournaments on Tenkiller Lake, Houston became obsessed with the sport. At the age of 17, Houston moved to Tenkiller. During his teenage years, he sold fish to help pay for college.
While he was in high school, Jimmy and Chris Houston met. They began dating and married in December 1963. Soon after their marriage, the couple started competing in the Bassmaster Classic and Bass N Gal Classic. The two won multiple awards, including a pair of Angler of the Year titles.
Jimmy and Chris have two children and a large extended family. There are eight great-grandchildren. Their daughter was a bass gal with her mother. She is now learning to dress. But she still has difficulty transferring words from her mind to her mouth.
On May 12, 2021, Jimmy updated his fans on the condition of his wife, who had been hospitalized since April. He said that his wife had been going through therapy sessions. Unfortunately, the injuries she had suffered from the accident were so severe that she would not be able to use her right arm or leg. Her doctors had told him that she would not be able to leave the hospital. Luckily, he was able to win money and get home.
However, when he arrived at the hospital, doctors informed him that his wife was in a coma. She was not expected to live for another six weeks. Instead, she would spend the rest of her life in a nursing home.
Despite this unfortunate turn of events, Jimmy and Chris remain together. They have been living at the Twin Eagles Ranch for 11 years. Located in Southern Oklahoma, the ranch straddles the counties of Carter and Murray. It is a beautiful, green, lush area filled with lakes and ponds. Many guests have visited the ranch over the years.
As a member of the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and the Professional Bass Sports Hall of Fame, Jimmy Houston has won numerous tournaments. Currently, he is a host on NBC Sports. Aside from his fishing career, he is an avid philanthropist, raising funds for cancer research. He has published a number of books and has also worked for multiple T.V. networks.
