New Stores – Whole Foods Post Oak, Westchase, and 365 by Whole Foods Currently Under Construction in Houston
At the end of October, Whole Foods opened its latest store, located at 11145 Westheimer Road in the Westchase District. This location is a big deal for the company, as it's the first of its kind in the area and will feature some unique features that will help separate it from other Whole Foods stores in the area.
One of the most exciting features is the in-store brewery, which will be run by a local brewmaster and feature a range of beers that will rotate on a regular basis. The brews will be available in the brewing company's posh brewpub upstairs and in a tricycle outfitted with two taps that will roll throughout the store.
The brewing company is the brainchild of Whole Foods' chief beverage officer, Dave Ohmer. He's a longtime Knoxville-based brewmaster who recently relocated to Houston to take the job.
Located in the Galleria, this 55,000-square-foot flagship is the second largest Whole Foods location in Houston, behind the Sugar Land store. It features an extensive produce, flower, and cheese department and a full-service coffee bar.
On the second floor is a cafe with build-your-own options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can also find an upscale barbecue spot and an Italian restaurant with a rotating deck and pizza oven.
A cold-press juice bar and the first in-store sushi bar are also a nice touch.
Another big feature is the redesigned salad bar, which has a new arugula and spinach selection. The fresh raw pasta bar has also been revamped, and a variety of prepared foods are offered as well.
The grocery department has also been upgraded with an expanded produce section that's double the size of the old store. The salad and fruit departments are also bigger, as are the seafood and dairy sections.
With all these changes, this new Whole Foods store is a great addition to the Westchase neighborhood. It's also a welcome addition to the growing number of Whole Foods locations in the area.
