Drive-Thru Light Trails in Houston

If you're looking for a fun drive-thru lights experience, look no further than this one-mile-long, computer-controlled, musically synchronized lights trail. The lights are synchronized to a high-energy, upbeat music playlist that is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

Shepherd Park Plaza/Candlelight Plaza: This northwest Houston neighborhood started a unique tradition in the 1960s that really makes visiting their area during the holidays special. Homeowners come together to adorn their streets with big arches that create the illusion of a Christmas tunnel, and each cul-de-sac has its own display.

Houston Zoo: The Houston Zoo is always a festive place to visit, but this year it's extra special with the opening of its brand-new holiday light display! This dazzling show features colorful lights, strolling carolers, nightly performances, hot chocolate, and more.

Dickinson Festival of Lights: If you're in the mood for a family-friendly, festive walk through a huge holiday light display, this free event in Dickinson is a great choice. It's open from Thanksgiving evening through New Year's Day.

Galveston: This quaint Texas beach town is full of enchanting holiday attractions, and one of the best is Moody Gardens' four-story digital Christmas tree, a mile-long lights trail, and live entertainment. There are also ice sculptures, outdoor wonders, and more than two million lights.

Pecan Grove: This scenic grove in Central Houston is another great place to view festive Christmas lights, especially if you're a fan of hayrides! These holiday hayrides are usually scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights in December, and they're choreographed to music.

River Oaks: This affluent Houston neighborhood has many beautiful and extravagantly decorated houses, and it's easy to find them on a drive through the area. The best time to see the lights is during the week so you don't have to deal with traffic or crowds.

Downtown: With the addition of City Lights, downtown has become a magical destination for holiday fun. Santa's Village and a holiday market series have been added this year, plus the state's largest mistletoe installation is back for 2018.

Uptown: The Galleria area of Houston is a popular destination during the holidays for its gorgeous, colorful displays. The Uptown Holiday Lighting is a Thanksgiving night tradition that has been going on for more than three decades.

Houston Zoo: The Houston Zoo has been a favorite for families since it opened, and it's no different when the lights are on. It's a festive place to spend a few hours in the evening, with the lights brightening up the grounds and the animals coming out of their cages to enjoy them.

In addition to the main Zoo, the park is also home to a variety of other amazing holiday displays that will make you feel like you're in another world. From a giant Ferris wheel to a windmill and even a polar express, it's a fun way to experience the holiday season!
